450 Seventh Graders at Forestview Middle School

This week I spent a day at Forestview Middle School in Baxter talking about my research and writing with the seventh grade English classes.  What a great bunch of kids!  The Camp Ripley Military Museum graciously loaned civil war reproduction relics to be used with my presentations.  The students loved seeing the types of clothing worn by Union soldiers and the various items they carried with them.

My main motivation for writing ABERCROMBIE TRAIL was to make the history of The 1862 Sioux Uprising and Civil War come alive to students and adults across the region.  After giving five presentations at Forestview,  I was exhausted.  At the same time I felt satisfied that I was  reaching my original goal.

Check out the photo gallery for photos from the day at Forestview.
