Today my publicist, Krista Soukup of the BLUE COTTAGE AGENCY joined me for a work day to plan the release of ESCAPE TO FORT ABERCROMBIE. This new YA/Crossover is set to be released by Five Star Cengage (a subsidy of the Thorndike Conglomeration) in February 2018.
What is a YA/Crossover? It’s a young adult book with children as main characters, but with enough character development to be of interest to adult readers, too. I was first approached in 2014 by a Five Star Cengage Editor at a Western Writers of America convention. The editor said that libraries and schools were asking for frontier stories from different regions of the country.
ESCAPE TO FORT ABERCROMBIE is about three school-aged children who in 1862, during the Sioux Uprising, arrive home to find their father dying from an arrow and their mother and baby sister kidnapped. The children must travel ten miles through tall grass to get to safety at Fort Abercrombie—and find help to find their mother and sister. Early reviewers have been kind. My grandkids loved it.
Promoting a YA book means more school visits, one of the topics on today’s agenda with Krista Soukup. Please contact me if your school might be interested in a presentation.
